One thing that I especially loved about the Slants (this was not true of the Mods) was the look of delight on a small child's face as they got a full view of the tracks and tunnels. This actually happened on my last ride on June 12th, 2009 as a mother and her young (maybe age five) daughter got on at 125th Street. Seeing this, I immediately ceded the window and the little girl became thoroughly engrossed. They stayed on until 168th Street. This may very well have been the last time a young child ever enjoyed such a treat.

Perfectly stated.

Another favorite was the Canarsie Line in the late 90's and early 00's.

Those operators had an....exciting habit of riding right up on the timed signals too!

On the comfort level, though, the trains had an atrocious design. And while the railfan windows were a spectacular treat, the design was basically butt ugly.
