West of Hudson Customers Get More Express Trains and Better Late Night Service

Starting Sunday, July 12, Pascack Valley Line customers will now have four Metro-North Railroad express trains on the weekend—trains that will no longer stop in New Jersey. In addition, Port Jervis Line customers will be able to enjoy additional time in New York City with improved late night service.

The new expresses will depart Spring Valley for Hoboken at 9:27 a.m. and 11:37 a.m., as well as two departures from Hoboken to Spring Valley at 3:20 p.m. and 7:22 p.m. This new express service will provide New York State Pascack Valley Line customers with savings of up to 23 minutes in travel time.

On the Port Jervis Line, the last evening departure from Hoboken on weekdays and weekends will now depart 35 minutes later, at 12:40 a.m., and connect with a Penn Station departure that will leave 45 minutes later, at 12:34 a.m. This will provide numerous advantages including less wait time for the connection, more time for late night customers in New York City, a 15-minute shorter ride for the Penn Station departure customers, and a better transit alternative for late evening events at the Meadowlands Complex when NJ Transit begins direct service there later this summer.

"Rocklanders deserve these better, faster, and more express trains," said Carl V. Wortendyke, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board member representing Rockland County. "It has always been my mission to see that Rockland residents have easier and more convenient access to New York City and, soon, to the Meadowlands Sports Complex."

"Metro-North continually strives to improve service," said Metro-North President Howard Permut. "We are pleased to be able to reduce travel times and reduce wait times for connections for the benefit of our West-of-Hudson customers."

New timetables are available at Hoboken, Penn Station, and all outlying West of Hudson Metro-North train stations, as well as on the website: www.mta.info
