Not really possible. One could extend the Northern Branch from Northvale, NJ since the lines do cross each other across the border in Orangeburg, but NJT only wants to run light fail, er rail to Tenafly on the line. CSX will also have nothing to do with passanger service clogging up a major freight artery. Best way to get passanger service to Newburgh is via the Stewart Airport spur proposal, extending it northeast along the old Erie Newburgh branch. Cost and NIMBYism makes that idea unworkable. |
