Well, having grown up 9 blocks away from Runway 13L/31R at JFK International Airport, I can tell one about noise, and I would tell them simply to STFU!!! I would much rather have a rumble from a train and even an air horn (music to my ears), rather than 25 years of LOUD rumbles, soars, and even ground shocks, from 707s thru 747s, DC-8s and of course the famous Concorde, which frequently used Runway 22R for a southward direct-to-the-Atlantic flightpath away from JFK, with a nice shot of afterburner as a goodbye present, setting off every car alarm for about 2 miles around. |
