NYC Transit and its predecessor Board of Transportation have always been restricted to providing service within the five boroughs. Mount Vernon is Westchester. From a global perspective it makes sense. But now at least Westchester buses provide a free Metrocard transfer to the IRT at Dyre Avenue. |
