As a joke, I once proposed that the 1 end at 207th Street, and that the A should continue northward along the "recaptured" IRT tracks as a two track railway to 242th Street-VCP and then follow the old Putnam ROW into Getty Square in the Bronx. The fun side effect is that MTA Bus gets to pawn off an express bus line...It should be no joke. Although aiming straight for the Putnam ROW, rather than up to the El and back down, is probably easier. |
