I don't want to pay for 10 additional rides in order to avoid confusion. If the computers are less confused than the human brain and can save me fares, so be it. I could always look back and see how it was figured out and look for errors, but most people wouldn't care to do that since they'd be paying less than they planned anyway.

This is like asking a merchant in a store to round up your $78 credit card purchase to $100 in order to keep a clear picture in your mind of how much you've spent.

They would always know what to charge for a ride. The lesser of $3 (or) $35 minus what's been collected in the last 7 days. And they do know what they've been collecting because even now at the 12th ride they have to know to only charge $2 in order to have a $35 cap - I presume that $2 charge happens on the spot.
