Thanks for putting in the dates. For simplicity purposes I'll go to the new fare structure.12/1 to 12/7 would be 10 trips, all paid ($3 each). 12/1's trips now disappear in terms of the cap since 7 days are up. 12/8 thus reverts back to trip #9 and concludes with trip #12. The first three trips are fully paid, but that last trip would be $2 to stay within the cap. 12/2's trips now disappear in terms of the cap since 7 days are up. 12/9 The first two trips would each be $3 to get back up to a total of $35 paid in 7 days (12/3-12/9). Then the last two trips free. 12/10 and 12/11 All free ($35 has already been paid in the last 7 days) There are no further trips on the given example, but on 12/12 if you were riding you would be charged the full fare for the first 4 trips of the day (basically making up for 12/5's payments that no longer count). The passenger always ends up with the best deal. How could the passenger have planned it better? |
