And on this date in 1969, the Miracle Mets shocked the baseball world by winning the World Series, defeating the heavily-favored Baltimore Orioles. I remember the final out as though it were yesterday. I got home from school in time to see it live, then watched the postgame clubhouse celebration. Naturally, the city went bonkers. Chances are those 7 trains were jammed with revelers after the game.
