The Mets had insisted that the Jets couldn't play any home games until the baseball season had ended. IIRC at some point in the mid to late 70s, the Jets took the matter to court and won their case, which meant they could play home games in September. Someone once explained that the pitcher's mound would be bulldozed and the dugout entrances covered over for football games, then the mound would have to be reconstructed.I noticed when the Cleveland Browns still played at Municipal Stadium, there was so much room that the end line at the closed end extended over the pitcher's mound, which was laft in place. |
