of all the transportation modalities, three track elevated passenger lines directly over streets are only a new york development, i'm pretty sure. and i'm not talking about short stretches either. if anyone knows of any equivalent to the flushing line or west end line anywhere else i'd love to hear about it.

the mcdonald avenue elevated...it's just hard to ignore the notion of two tracks out of three able to carry rush hour loads. considering the history of rail lines in that part of brooklyn it's perfectly understandable that a three track structure that avoided street traffic was built. it's also perfectly understandable that the three tracks would continue to interest transit planners and riders.
