At one time there was talk of extending the IND Concourse line past White Plains Rd. farther east but the city decided to buy the old NYW&B ROW instead because it was a less expensive alternative to new subway construction. The city struggled to complete the IND with its debt limit and there were still parts of the originally planned IND which didn't get finished until the late 1940s. |
