Those cars were even newer than the triplexes.The problem is that once the R32s came in all of the pre-war cars started to look really old, with their dim lighting, smells and noises. I remember transferring from the Sea Beach to the West End at 62nd/NU and being surprised that a Triplex pulled in. I thought they were long gone by then, but I was only about 10 and a long time was 3 months. What I did know is that they were no longer on the Brighton. That was the last time I rode one until a few years ago when they appeared at Brighton Beach for the Parade of Trains. It was eerie because I didn't think there were any still in existence, never mind in working order. |
