The dim lighting and funky smells make the pre-war cars seem much older than even the R10s, 12s and 14s, even though in the case of the R9s, it wasn't that big a gap in years.The difference, to non-railfans, between an R46 and an R179 are a lot less. WE know they're significant, but others might not. But a Triplex and an R27/30 are obviously different to anyone. |
