The AA,B,D shared cars out of several pools. The B and AA shared rolling stock out of Coney Island ,along with the D out of Stillwell. The D had its own yard and maintenance shops at 205st. New cars were purchased for the BMT lines from 1955 to 1965. The IND received new cars 1967 ( R38) The TA wanted to keep the ol timers off the Manhattan Bridge...so most of the R units were replaced with Brightliners...while the AA split cars with the B line. During the midday, the B ran half it's regular service to 57th st 6th Avenue. The R units were .basically pulled from the bridge lines in the early 70s,replaced by the basic units out of there yards.. R44s for the D,R42B..and R32. 1977,the B received R38s from the E/F LINES,THE D received 40m/42 cars,AA received cars from the B and A line. The A received R40s etc. |
