Even though they were much older, the BMT steels were much more advanced that the R-1s through 9s. They had tripcocks that could be rest from the cab, running lights that changed from red to white when the reverser was thrown and a door interlock to prevent power from being applied when the doors were open, none of which any of the prewar R types had. |
