I've often wondered that if the Utica extension of the IRT was built as proposed in the 1968 plan that the Eastern Parkway line would be overwhelmed. Could they have handled additional crowds that would take the Utica subway but wouldn't have taken a Utica bus? By the time those trains reached Atlantic they'd be too crowded to take on LIRR passengers. They already were when I lived in Park Slope and it would only be worse. |
