Mystery Middle Track on New Lots IRT? |
|
Posted by Mitch45 on Wed Mar 25 23:25:07 2020 The enclosed video is footage taken from the RFW of a Low-V on the New Lots Avenue Line east of Franklin Avenue.https://youtu.be/xJlz3sXYuEM In the entire elevated portion of the line there is no middle track. However, at 6:50 a middle track suddenly appears. It’s overgrown but appears to be third-railed. The interesting thing is that as the train descends into the tunnel, the middle track runs into a separated concrete viaduct. The tunnel entrance is pretty tall and the middle track is actually ascending as it enters the tunnel while the local track descends. What was this track? Just an ordinary layup track? Why the viaduct? |
