R44 'SS' Culver Shuttle rollsign.

I'm stumped by this one. Of course the R44s never ran on the Culver shuttle. Did the MTA ever harbor fantasies of rebuilding the Culver shuttle to modern (1970s) standards? Or did they just order up rollsigns for the R44 with all routes operating at that time.
