Our transit is far more comfortable than East Asian, so we have that going for us. In the US sometimes people have to stand in rush hour. In East Asia, it is sometimes possible to lift both feet off the ground and remain upright. And rush hour runs from 6PM to the last train of the night at 1AM, meaning taking "the next one" is always just as crowded as the last. This video (incorrectly labelled as "rush hour") shows a midnight train (1 hour before closing) departing the CBD. Note from the departure board on the adjacent track that trains are running every 5 minutes even that late, still overcrowded. |
