Australia and Japan it works the opposite way. If your credit card has no PIN, it will not work at a TVM. My bank-issued credit card (R.I.P. First Niagara) is actually a chip-and-pin card which ended up being the only one I could use down under to recharge my Opal card. Key Bank who bought out First Niagara cannot reissue them, so I might be screwed once it expires (or hopefully by then someone else will be as forward thinking).
