In Australia, My First Niagara worked with my standard ATM pin, my Credit Union one did not (thanks for reminding me, I did try both those). In Japan at the ticket machine, absolutely nothing worked except the First Niagara chip and pin credit card (and I could only buy tickets with it, not add funds to SUICA, but I suspect that restriction is for all credit cards).The frustrating thing about Sydney is I found no vending machines that would take cash for refills, and the only ticket window I found was at the Airport station. Turns out if you need to refill with cash, go to a convenience store, but only some could do it (I think 7-Eleven, it's been a while). I basically put $150AUD on it so I wouldn't have to deal with being out of funds. |
