Besides MTA unreliability, it depends on how many transfers are required for a trip between campuses to determine if this makes sense. I can't see why NYU buses would be needed for trips within Manhattan, but some trips may be too cumbersome to make MTA service practical.Kingsborough Community College also runs its own buses because the MTA service is too unreliable and too many students were arriving late because they had to wait 30 minutes for a bus that was due every five or ten minutes or because MTA buses were too crowded to pick everyone up. I wonder how many other institutions and companies have their own bus system. I remember in the 80s Apple buses ran a route from Downtown Brooklyn to Main Street which is now DUMBO for Social Security workers. |
