Re: Why Does NYU Have Its Own Private Bus System?

The College of Staten Island runs buses between its campus and the Ferry. The buses look pretty nice.

In the 1980s and early 90s, when they had 2 campuses (St. George and Sunnyside), they had a regularly scheduled bus between the two. Really beaten up Fishbowls they got from God-knows- where were used. Although the distance was not great, there was no direct MTA service between those locations. And even the indirect service that did exist was slow and loaded with intermediate stops (as is still the case).
