Of course having some idea what the organization does--produce widgets, transport pax, operate a retail outfit, whatever--is useful; however, management is also a skill unto itself. The CEO of a transit agency does not need to know how to repair a sump pump in a tunnel, but s/he DOES need to know they exist and must be functional. |
