No doubt. Decades ago I had to read, in college, Peter Drucker's study of GM--The Concept of the Corporation. A decade later, On a Clear Day You can See GM by DeLorean. The latter described a largely incompetent organization with sycophant managers--sound familiar?The problem of course is howto clean the swamp/fouled stables. In GM's case, we almost got rid of them entirely (which actytually would have been a good thing in myview) but it is much harder when theentity is a necessity. We can't function w/o transit; we don't need all of the auto makers. Watching Wiedenfeld atWMATA will be instructive. |
