I really didn't expect that anyone could seriously assert in 2015 that acupuncture was a "sham". People have undergone major surgery using acupuncture as the only anesthetic; no placebo effect can do that.My mother has a condition called myatonia, which is related to muscular dystrophy. About 30 years ago, she was told that she likely would soon need a wheelchair to get about. Instead of accepting this, she went for acupuncture treatment, and periodic treatments have allowed her to continue walking quite well. Only in the last year or so (she is 87) has she started using a walker. Acupuncture is no sham. |
