I,ve posted on this before.the reason the station was built to IND specs.is because in 1937 the lirr wanted to abandon all service west of Jamaica and sell it to the city for conversion for subway use.this is from a 1937 long island press report on the subject.the atlantic branch was supposed to connect to the A train in the vicinity of lafayette ave.this was told to me by old time BOT/t.a.workers around 1964. |
