I don’t exactly think that was the reason that Woodhaven Blvd was tiled IND style. Since it was the city building that portion of the LIRR, it was merely state of the art of subway station ornamentation to tile stations in that manner. That is the same reason that 14/8, Fulton and Broad Sts were tiled IND style. The city built those stations and since they were contemporary with the IND that was the type of tiling that was state of the art for NYC subway construction at the time. |
