After Chrystie St opened, the D on the Brighton was the big story. Brighton now had 6th Ave service, making it no longer a Broadway-only line. In addition the QJ was taking over as the Brighton Local, meaning that, if not for those QB specials you speak of, the Brighton Line would have gone from 100% Broadway service down to 0% Broadway service, a shock that Brighton riders were not ready for.Those QB specials were a consolation, and, I suppose, since they weren't in the way, ran at various intervals for many years. Granted, however, this is all before my time, but I've read up on it. |
