When the Rockaway extension opened in June 1956 they were able only to run short slow R-9 shuttles between Euclid and the Rockaways because of a power shortage caused by a Westinghouse strike. When the power problems ended in November 1956 they began running R-10 A's to the Rockaways. E's didn't run to the Rockaways until around 1959, after both the E's and F's had been shortened to 10 cars in 1958. |
