I met your Dad years ago at the Shoreline Trolley Museum in Connecticut and I will say a Mi Sheberakh (blessing for the sick on the Torah) for him next time I'm at synagogue services and pray for a speedy recovery.That being said, I've known Fred for years and although we disagree completely on politics, I've always known him to be an honorable man. I don't ever recall him making fun of Dan. And while it might not have been the right post to make (That's why it says "Before posting.. think twice!" below) I sincerely doubt he meant it in a disrespectful way.

The trouble is that people wait to apologize until someone has taken a turn for the worst. In my book, that is not redemption. A guilty conscience, perhaps, but not sincere contrition. I guess I'm the only one here who asked what "WADL" meant, because I honestly did not know. When I did find out, I really felt bad that he had to endure all of your "WADL" bullshit! I never met Mr Lawrence, but I'm sure he has a nice family- and a wonderful daughter. My prayers are for all of the Lawrence family, not only the ill members, but also the family members who must care for them! |

While a minority of people here were truly nasty to Dan at a personal level, for most of us it was the same kind of benign needling that we all do to each other. It would be absurd if we had to all walk on egg shells with each other for fear that one of us will get seriously ill in the future. For example, I have disagreed with Dan over the merits of indoor soccer vs the actual "Beautiful Game" but that's what OTChat is for. Disagreeable discussion over non-transit related topics. If God forbid, AMoreira81 ever got sick, should I feel guilty for mocking his legal opinions by posting the WTF Cat? If this board ends up going on for decades, we will eventually all die on each other. |
