There is something discomforting about a member of senior management of a church running for President.

When JFK ran for President, he could rightly say that American principles were supreme in his decisions, not Catholic ones, if there was a conflict.

But suppose Cardinal Dolan ran for President? He's an American, but he's also made a lifelong commitment to a foreign organization whose goals may conflict with the goals of the US. It's very different from being in senior management of a corporation. When you quit your job in the corporation, you have no more obligations to them. But Cardinal Dolan can never relinquish his obligations to the Catholic Church.

Dolan has the legal right to run for President. But it sure would raise questions if he did.

Facts are facts, they don't possess ideologies. Willard ran as many companies into the ground as he saved, lost as many jobs as he made and overall was a total wash aside from his profit. That he did well with. He has to this day not one iota of consideration for the consequences of his actions on anyone he harmed.Kind of strange behavior from someone who was also serving as LDS clergy at the time.

When your family is rich you can do things without pay and not worry about the pinch. Then the Obama donation is a complete lie. Then to call the Obama administration the big spender, well lets see, our federal tax dollars... 25% of it goes to the 600 billion dollar defense budget which Republicans don't want cut so Romney is screwed there. The next big one is Health Care at 24% which means he'd have to cut Medicaid and Childrens Health Insurance programs which would hurt the elderly and the youth (thats looking out for our future). Then its Job and Family security at 20% Now he could reduce that by eliminating the tax credits but that amounts to a tax increase, but he could eliminate Housing Assistance even though it only makes up 2% of that 19% or Temp Assistance for needy families which makes up .6% and that unemployment insurance only takes up 2.3%. Then comes the next big one... Debt Repayment at a whopping 8% which Romney certainly can't do a damn thing about except pay more of it off. So where does Romney cut, he won't do a tax increase so he has to make big cuts, but the biggest one he won't cut.

Romney is painting himself into a huge corner but if he wins I can't wait to see his supporters defend his spending and his tax cuts while our debt increases cause you know in math when you have less money but maintain the level of spending you have... you incur debt. He might actually raise the debt faster than Obama did. But then you guys will say "its Obamas fault" and I'll giggle inside.

He was the closest thing to Gordon Gekko sen in real life. Bain liquidated as many companies as they sustained. The sole parameter was maximizing their profit. No regard was ever considered for the existing management and employees. Some got lucky and kept their jobs...typically at lower pay and fewer if any benefits. Many lost pensions they had worked for years in anticipation of collecting, and received no compensation for their loss.

Apparently you have no concept of what capitalism is all about or at least you pretend well here. Capitalism has been the driving force of this country for most of its existence. It is not pretty but it has never failed - unlike the socialist model that you embrace for everyone else but for your own measly business. If Bain stepped in and saved companies like Staples by trimming fat and laying off people to make the company profitable, is that a bad thing? Would it be better if Staples went out of existence and everyone lost their job and every investor lost money? Look at what your clown did. I plowed money into Solyndra. He cut a deal so that his buddies would get paid before the American Taxpayers would and then when the company went belly up, he stood there like a moron palms facing upwards and shoulders shrugged. I guess that's a better outcome that some real management coming in and saving the company - better for you, anyway. Sorry but Capitalism built the railroads and the steel mills and fueled the industrial revolution. If you hate capitalism so much, take your facocta business and move to China.

Absolutely not true but it makes for great propaganda. Companies go broke and their contracts with unions get abrogated every time. Hasn't this happened several times in the Airline industry? All Bain did was provide a parachute where these companies trim fat, and yes, in certain circumstances shed onerous contracts, and streamline the company to return it to profitability. Which would you prefer - American Airlines or Pan Am? Yeah - sometimes its not pretty but it beats the alternative where the company goes belly up and everyone including the stock holders lose. That's capitalism.
