I had a "closed fracture" of the nose and it lost well over a 2 pints of blood before it stopped. Given that he could not have been in a position to do anything much WRT bleeding, his shirt should have been covered in bloodstains. He looked clean as the driven snow in the police station surveillance video.To put it simply, it's more complicated than your wishful speculation. Nobody should cheer a murderer being let loose on the streets. |

It will be interesting to see if any of these alleged severe injuries gets put into evidence in court. Zimmermanm was apparently well enough that medics at the shooting scene released him to the cops, and he never sought treatment at the ER thereafter. If his "family doctor" found all these injuries the day after the shooting, where are the photographs of them? I would consider such graphic evidence of gross injury to be de rigeur for the defense. Yet, in all this time, we've only seen the police-station video of Zimmerman, which shows little or no evidence of the severe injuries Zimmerman is now claiming.Stop trying to make Zimmerman the victim here. Just stop. |

But if he does go to trial: - Trayvon had a right to be where he was. - He followed Trayvon; Trayvon didn't follow him. - How would any violent altercation have started? Do you really think Zimmerman went up to Trayvon and said "Excuse me, young man, would perhaps mind explaining your presence in this community? I haven't seen you here before" and that Trayvon responded by punching Zimmerman? Everything points to a reckless disregard of human life on Zimmerman's part. Certainly not murder, but either criminally negligent homicide or manslaughter. My guess is that Zimmerman used some level of physical restraint on Trayvon, recklessly confident in doing so because of the gun in his possession, and that Trayvon overreacted. But the penalty for overreacting when someone gets physical with you through no fault of your own isn't supposed to be death. |

He didn't give proper thought to the consequences of his actions. If he hadn't been armed there never would have been a fist fight. A report from a family doctor the following day is meaningless. He could have very well inflicted those injuries (if there even were any) on himself that night. Given how the Sanford police have handled this whole thing, they're suspect of being complicit with the defense in this investigation as well. That's why it was kicked up to the state level. You're looking at this through a (I'll skip the racist tones behind your statement) guncrazed lens (so why do you live in NYC, where there's some modicum of gun laws?). You're willing to let a murderer walk on the flimsy evidence so far presented? You have no idea what the prosecution has behind their case either. |

The logic you criticize is actually logical.If Zimmerman had no injuries whatsoever, then he would have a tremendously diffuclt time arguing that he was in fear of his life. If Zimmerman had injuries, he still has to convince a jury that he had reason to be in fear of his life. His argument gets easier, but he still has something to demonstrate. There's also the question best left to the lawyers. If the underlying reason you are in fear of your life is your own reckless conduct, does that absolve you of all guilt? |

(I had one a few years ago) He would have had blood stains on his clothes at minimum, which would have shown in the famous police station surveillance video. There would have been a EMS report filed from the scene. We didn't see either.Without the report from the scene, any "day after" medical reports are suspect. The Sanford police's handling of this is *extremely* suspect. |
