Inevitably acquitted?

He has a good chance of never going to trial because the judge throws it out based on Stand Your Ground.

But if he does go to trial:

- Trayvon had a right to be where he was.

- He followed Trayvon; Trayvon didn't follow him.

- How would any violent altercation have started? Do you really think Zimmerman went up to Trayvon and said "Excuse me, young man, would perhaps mind explaining your presence in this community? I haven't seen you here before" and that Trayvon responded by punching Zimmerman?

Everything points to a reckless disregard of human life on Zimmerman's part. Certainly not murder, but either criminally negligent homicide or manslaughter.

My guess is that Zimmerman used some level of physical restraint on Trayvon, recklessly confident in doing so because of the gun in his possession, and that Trayvon overreacted. But the penalty for overreacting when someone gets physical with you through no fault of your own isn't supposed to be death.
