I believe that advertisers feel that those listeners are more "affluent" than the listeners of smooth jazz formats. So in the case where both audiences are older, they want to go with the more affluent ones...In the case of political talk, I don't think it has to do with affluence as much as LNA's simply being afraid to advertise on Rush, Beck, Hannity and that entire format. When I started listening to political talk in 2007 they had LNA's like McDonald's. Ever since Obama won, LNA's left, and it's all PI ads. I guess talk format makes a killing during elections. |

I wouldn't even drink the coffee at most average "mom and pop" bodegas as you may as well drink piss water. 7-11's at least is drinkable, and you know what you will get.Furthermore, 7-11 is a different type of business than the "mom and pop" bodegas, so they will NOT put them out of business, there's plenty at bodegas you can't get at the 7-11. |

If the bodega was so crappy that a "7-11" would put them out of business, then that wasn't such a great bodega to begin with and deserves to close. 7-11's live alongside delis and bodagas all over the place, Astoria is no different. |

New York was huge Exxon territory and huge Mobil territory. At many key intersections you had Exxon and Mobil stations competing with each other.Eventually that sorted itself out, and after that did almost all of the remaining Exxon stations were rebranded as Gulf stations. There was a good explanation of how/why that happened on OTChat a few years ago, but I forget what it was. I wasn't even going to click on this thread -- but was curious to see what two guys from California were discussing about the new 7-11 in Queens.
