New York was huge Exxon territory and huge Mobil territory. At many key intersections you had Exxon and Mobil stations competing with each other.Eventually that sorted itself out, and after that did almost all of the remaining Exxon stations were rebranded as Gulf stations. There was a good explanation of how/why that happened on OTChat a few years ago, but I forget what it was. I wasn't even going to click on this thread -- but was curious to see what two guys from California were discussing about the new 7-11 in Queens. Gotta love OTChat during the New York overnight hours... |
