Apparently the Dem plan is to default, then blame Republicans. The "Dem plan" is to get an agreement passed. The Republican plan is to be obstructionist, despite the fact that they had no problem raising the debt limit seven times during the prior administration. |

The Republicans have stated that they were willing to go along with raising the debt limit as long as there were also meaningful cuts towards a balanced budget. The current president wants nothing to do with reducing the debt because his boss, George Soros, doesn't want it. |

They did NOT pass a debt limit increase. They passed this sham of a budget bill which could allow for an increase, but not without ridiculous stipulations there isn't the time to pursue, much less pass. A "balanced budget amendment" doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting the majorities needed to pass.It died a swift and proper death in the Senate, where sanity has been given asylum this session. Wisest thing to do is pass a clean debt ceiling increase, just like they did during bush, over and over again. The (republican) reason things are stagnating economically is that Congress is NOT doing its job, NOT implementing the laws already passed so everyone can adjust to how it is. Without those laws enacted fully, this limbo will persist. Fact is, we need to get rid of them ASAP so we can get back to work, get some infrastructure funded so we can continue growth and redevelop revenue sources to pay for it all. THEN we can see what needs cutting. |

The Democrats are only saying no to the badly thought out and destructive plans of the republcians. That's a good thing. Sensible cutting along with sensible revenue increases will get us back to 2000, when we had a surplus (to enable lowering debt by PAYING IT OFF) and full employment. Funny how the two go together. |

First, it was the Democrats that actually made progress towards addressing the debt the last time they held the Presidency. Had they continued we wouldn't be having this "conversation". Instead, we'd be on a sounder financial footing than bush left us in with his tax cuts, opportunistic wars, excessive military spending on useless and pointless unwanted materiel, overreactive expensive terrorism responses, unfunded mandates, and corporate welfare programs. There's the debt, there's the deficits.Rescind all taxcuts from the past 10 years. Allow Medicare to buy in bulk and negotiate drug prices like the VA does and Part D will become affordable. Fund infrastructure development and grow the economy. THEN we'll see what needs to be cut. You can't cut programs that would harm people until there's full employment. George Soros is not President Obama's boss. Despite your asinine statement |

That means the average is 56...which brings us back to 1955....right in the middle of the Baby Boomer era. We still have 10 years average to go to GET RID of them, as the Baby Boomer era ends about 1965. |
