First, it was the Democrats that actually made progress towards addressing the debt the last time they held the Presidency. Had they continued we wouldn't be having this "conversation". Instead, we'd be on a sounder financial footing than bush left us in with his tax cuts, opportunistic wars, excessive military spending on useless and pointless unwanted materiel, overreactive expensive terrorism responses, unfunded mandates, and corporate welfare programs. There's the debt, there's the deficits.

Rescind all taxcuts from the past 10 years. Allow Medicare to buy in bulk and negotiate drug prices like the VA does and Part D will become affordable. Fund infrastructure development and grow the economy. THEN we'll see what needs to be cut. You can't cut programs that would harm people until there's full employment.
