They object to the fact that the Church strongly emphasizes that you put your immortal soul in peril if you use contraception, even though the alternative (not using contraception) puts the health and lives of your wife and children in peril. The Church does not strongly emphasize this. In fact, Pope Benedict did say that wearing a condom vs. the alternatives(disease, unwanted pregnancies) is the "lesser of two evils". Again, I ask you, what major religion promotes contraception? Protestants? Judaism? Islam? Why bash the Church and not other religions for not taking a strong stance on the use of contraception? Well, the answer is that the Catholic Church is a major target while others fly under the radar. |

Pay attention! No one is asking the Church to PROMOTE contraception. And plenty of priests give anti-contraception sermons. Not in the US though. |

"Well, the answer is that the Catholic Church is a major target while others fly under the radar."That because for decades the RC pushed for no contraception in the modern world. |

No one is asking the Church to PROMOTE contraception.Yes you are. And you're blaming the Church for the spread of disease and unwanted pregnancies, all because of their stance on contraception. And you're not blaming any other religion for the same ills. In essence, you're saying that the Church is responsible until they either promote contraception or chance their stance on it. And you're silent about other religions on the issue. And plenty of priests give anti-contraception sermons. Not in the US though. LOL. Ok. I'm sure all the prostitutes and people engaging in pre-marital sex are tuned in to these sermons. |

So what if the Church has a "centralized hierarchy"? Is this to say that all other religions are a bunch of loosely-knit non-influential religions?Because in the case of other churches there is no one person who exerts an influence over all of the millions of followers. It's silly to say that the Church should promote contraception while all other religions get a waiver and don't have to say a word. No it's not. Because most other religions do not have an official spokesman who can speak on their behalf. |

Well, the answer is that the Catholic Church is a major target while others fly under the radar. As we've been drilling into you: THE POPE SPEAKS FOR CATHOLICISM! THERE IS NO LONGER ANY EQUIVALENT IN ISLAM OR JUDAISM. And Judaism is irrelevant anyway as there are a negligible number of Jews. |

This doesn't excuse Muslim, Jewish and Protestant groups from speaking out against transmission of disease through unprotected sex and overpopulation. If the Pope isn't doing enough, then I expect Jews, Muslims, and Protestant to be loud about these topics if they feel that Catholics aren't saying enough. The same Jewish leaders who complained loudly and received international attention when Mel Gibson came out with a movie they objected to, should be as loud and determined regarding unprotected sex. The same Muslim leaders who complained loudly and received international attention when the Gainesville Fla pastor burned a Koran, should be as loud and determined regarding unprotected sex. Until then, they are as guilty as the Catholic church for the spread of STD's and overpopulation. Pope Benedict did say that using a condom to prevent transmission of disease is the lesser of two evils. And Judaism is irrelevant anyway as there are a negligible number of Jews. Well, Jews don't recruit like other religions. They prosper being a small group. |

Pope Benedict did say that using a condom to prevent transmission of disease is the lesser of two evils. And for the 200th time, that only applies to GAYS! The stance against contraception regarding heterosexual couples has not changed one iota. The Church still still considers it a greater evil for a guy to kill Timmy The Spermatozoa with a condom than to kill his wife with AIDS. |
