Because on issues of life, it holds itself to a higher standard.Also as Spider-Pig said, the Catholic Church has a centralized hierarchy with a clear leader and with influence over more than a billion people. They are much more important than any other denomination. They are important to people who are Catholic. To others, not so much. So what if the Church has a "centralized hierarchy"? Is this to say that all other religions are a bunch of loosely-knit non-influential religions? It's silly to say that the Church should promote contraception while all other religions get a waiver and don't have to say a word. Even non-Catholics pay attention when the Pope or high ranking Vatican officials say something. Usually they pay attention to find something to mock, like the Church's stance on contraception. It's not like they are paying attention for spiritual guidance. If not for Catholic-bashing, I wouldn't even know the Church's stance on contraception. |
