Again, why was it necessary for Obama to release his "long form" at all, since the "short form" is legally equivalent? YOU are the one that won't let it go. |

How, then was Obama able to graduate Magna Cum Laude, which requires a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or better?I'm sick of this "black tax" nonsense, wherein high-achieving blacks have everything about them called into question, as opposed to similarly high-achieving whites. It seems that blacks who succeed must jump through hoops no one else does, and "verify" their grades, credentials, or even birthplaces, to justify their achievements. |

It does, though the problem is the wording in the Constitution. There's a difference between the term "native born" and "naturally born", something the hardcore birthers are still clinging to. |

LOL!You've resorted to lying. Most on MY side of the aisle only demanded he do what he did today, because we KNEW he was uttering bullshit when claiming he couldn't. It isn't my side not letting this go. We were never obsessed over it. It was the left who was obsessed over it (specifically relating to imagined right wing beliefs). I implore you again to stop spinning. Pretty soon you will dig yourself a hole you cannot ever get out of. |

What am I "lying" about? A "short form" birth certificate is the legal equivalent of the long one. That's why you get a "short form" in lieu of the "long form" if you lose your original in most states. |

No there is no problem in the wording of the Constitution. This has been long addressed by Congress through federal law and by the courts. It's why John McCain and George Romney were able to run for President even though they were born abroad. And for the record, George Romney had several mommies. |

Again, this isn't about "legality". Until recently few people actually thought Obama was not born where he claimed he was (HI). This was about Obama's refusal to do what he did today, release the certificate of live birth, something he had the power to do from the very first moment this controversy began, something his supporters claimed he could NOT do legally. Why did he/they do this? |

Not really, because we haven't had a President who has not had two naturalized citizen parents in a LONG time. Obama's father was a student and a citizen of Kenya (something the short form certificate never mentions, go here to see the short form he released years ago and the one he released this morning).Again, the question of Obama's eligibility for the the presidency was never much in doubt. Most on the right accepted that he was eligible. They took issue as to why Obama allowed the controversy to simmer when he had the power to END it years ago. THAT is the issue. It's pointless to argue over something most of us always agreed upon: Obama was eligible to be POTUS. |

What you got was what Obama released today. You got what McCain released immediately after people began to question HIS eligibility due to his birth in the Panama Canal Zone. Once again, this isn't about Obama's eligibility to be president, it's about HIS cynical exploitation of an issue for personal political gain. |

Not really, because we haven't had a President who has not had two naturalized citizen parents in a LONG time.It doesn't matter if it was not in a long time. Federal law has put the natural-born Clause into law and those laws have been upheld when former presidential candidates who really were born abroad ran for the presidency. McCain's case isn't even the best one since he was born in an American Naval hospital in an American enclave. George Romney is the best example. He was born in Mexico, issued a Mexican birth certificate and had several defacto mothers, some who were Mexican. His biological parents (Americans) grew up in Mexico themselves and married there. He still got to run in 1968. Federal law doesn't require both parents to be citizens. It only requires one. In fact it can even be just a grandparent if the kid was born in the 90's or later. |

Shouldn't you be in Maryland protesting McDonald's, or is that not a "hate crime" to you? Funny how selective your outrage is.Jesse Jackson is wrong. Seeking records on Obama is no different than those who wanted to see more records about Bush or any other previous President. Scrutiny of a President did not begin with Barack Hussein Obama. Why are you calling me out? I only said that his birth name could be Barry. I never questioned his eligibility or said that he was born in Kenya. I always stated that he was born in Hawaii. |

Call it racism, call it xenophobia, call it what you will but it's unprecedented and it's disgusting.Call it politics. Bush had to deal with people demanding his school records until they were finally "leaked" to the media and published by the nytimes. And don't forget the forged military records used against Bush during his 2004 campaign. Now that was unprecedented and disgusting. Face it, your playing the race card when defending Obama, but ignoring the fact that politics is a dirty game and Bush went through a lot of scrutiny too. |

Bush's military records were forged. Remember that scandal?Nothing wrong with asking for Obama's school records just like there's nothing wrong with asking for Bush's. It's all the same. |
