True. With baseball there's no limit other than outs and a good day you can finish a full game in under 3hrs. Then there are games that just drags on especially if it's a slugfest. If MLB had to contract 2 teams, which 2 do you think should go? Personally I think the Nats and the Royals should go and they move the A's back to KC and the Marlins to DC. |

I disagree. LA wasn't nearly as much of a college football town when the Raiders and Rams were here. UCLA has historically been a basketball school and USC was in the midst of mediocrity and losing a ridiculous number of consecutive games to Notre Dame. Also remember that the Raiders won a Superbowl when they were here.Even now where USC has been good for ten years they don't have many hardcore fans. They are as popular as they are because they are winning and we don't have a pro team. That being said I think that LA is a decent college sports town. It's not Atlanta or Dallas where there are lots of hard core fans, but it's not Boston or NYC either. |

More sports fans than not would agree with you. One of the NFL's claim to fame is that it doesn't really matter too much who is playing. People watch Sunday night football, Monday night, regardless of who's playing. Other sports get some of that, but not nearly on the same level as football. Probably has to do with how few home team games there are. |

Probably has to do with how few home team games there are. That's not true. Who is playing is perhaps the most important aspect. For example, the Vikings vs. Packers on MNF did record setting numbers that no other matchup did. Some experts are saying that part of the reason the Super Bowl got such a huge rating has to do with all the attention paid to the commercials and half-time show. "Who had the best Super Bowl ad"?, is part of pop culture for sure. |

Of course matchups are important and some games will draw more viewers than others, but what I meant is that many people watch regardless. They could show two 0.500 small market NFL teams on Sunday night and lots of people all over the country will watch. That wouldn't happen with basketball or baseball. |

I'd have to agree. I am a big baseball fan but unless the Diamondbacks (or occasionally Tigers) are playing, I cannot stand watching an entire game. The same is true with hockey and basketball (unless I am at the game, then I enjoy it if for no reason than being there with the crowd). The NFL is different. I can actually enjoy watching two teams play that I don't really follow. I can't even say that about college football (where unless Arizona is playing, I don't have any interest in the game). |

Yeah. Best example. The Reds vs. Pirates would likely get lousy national ratings. The Bengals vs. Steelers, on the other hand, would likely get decent to good ratings nationally. |
