Flight originated in Amsterdam and the man tried to detonate whatever he had strapped to his leg as the flight was about to land in Detroit -- so he never met the TSA. Passenger originated in Nigeria (Lagos? otherwise Abuja, I think) and flew from there to Amsterdam and then on to Detroit. No idea whether passengers have to reclear security if they are transiting through Amsterdam, but security at the airport in Lagos isn't exactly known for being the best... |

That rule needs to change, where all passengers arriving in the EU must be screened and baggage claimed (and re-checked) upon arrival in the EU. Depending on the country, passengers may also need to get a transit visa. |
