The only thing I didn't like about the McLobster was that it was served cold and on what looked like a hot dog bun.

What do you think a lobster roll is supposed to be?

Use turkey bacon. Just as good, if you use the right brand.

Beef frye is better, and it really is bacon.

Not according to the USDA, which defines bacon as "the cured belly of a swine carcass"; if the bacon comes from other cuts of the pig, it must be specified.

All this other stuff just resembles "bacon." Often imitated, never beaten.

Beef frye is the "cured belly of a bovine carcass" and is, in layman's terms, beef bacon. It's not just miscellaneous cow parts pressed to look like bacon.

Can I take some generic white fish, punch it out into rounds, and sell it as scallops? People do; but it's not a scallop.

Government regulators define "bacon" as coming from a pig. All you've got is cured beef belly (I haven't seen their futures on the option exchanges I follow).

My friend, take it up with the USDA. They set the definition, not me. As a rose is a rose is a rose, bacon is bacon is bacon. Rose does not equal tulip, and pig does not equal beef. It be similar, but it does not meet the government's definition of bacon; not do those "bacon bits" made out of God knows what that are not porcine either.

Beef frye isn't sold as bacon, it's sold as beef frye. All I'm saying is if you want a non-pig alternative to bacon, it beats turkey "bacon," which isn't bacon at all (yet is sold as "bacon").

That's fine then....it sounded like you were trying to say that this beef thing is "bacon". Anyone that "thinks" they are eating even remotely like bacon eating any of these alternatives are NOT.

So long as the dish isn't the sort of "china" that has gold or silver leaf on it, you can use it in the microwave.
I don't know what could have happened in your case, but that's not normal. The popcorn may have been in too long, and the heat collected in one spot, which made the plate too hot.

I read on AOL search:
Melmac is the name for plastic dinnerware that was created with the use of melamine.

I didn't see too much about melamine toxic.
I got the impression you'd get sick from it if you'd also eat the dishes along with the food served on it.

It depended on how much leeching of the material happened. Sorta like DuPont's first "teflon" formula. Melamine however has lasting effects beyond the immediate illness it *can* cause. Now did those plates behave like lead goblets in ancient Rome? Probably not ... but the effects of long term exposure to it could be something else.

But melamine plates went away because of this research ...

Um, they still make 'em. Crosslinked melamine is not the same as liquid melamine. Step away from ye olde tinne-foile hatte . . .
