This is why 2nd amendment rights are paramount...Um, Selkirk has all the rights he needs to one or many guns. Most of the people where he lives do own guns. However, in NY State (and in most if not all states), if your neighbor breaks your wife's nose, it doesn't justify shooting him dead. Selkirk would have been in a lot more legal trouble than just a lawsuit if he had done that, and the Second Amendment wouldn't have given him the slightest protection. Hopefully Selkirk has good liability insurance, and the lawsuit will only be a nuisance. |

I'm staying away from the poly-ticks until Wednesday, but here's the latest on what's been going on here after spending most of the daytime with the "attorneys" ... apparently the idjit is suing me for "use of excessive force" in taking a baseball bat to him after he turned on me. Somehow I suspect ventilating his liver would have been a REALLY bad idea. :)So he's suing us over in Rensselaer county for his medical bills since he owns a "home remodeling business" but has no insurance, and is thus coming after his medicals AND "loss of business" while he was laid up. Bunch of other nonsense in his "complaint" but looks like it goes to court over there next month. Our "insurance" company is none too pleased, so the complications over this are getting more and more interesting. Knew this was happening last week, but found out that this moron could take our house given that "appropriate response" in New York is "flee" and do NOTHING. :( And the one thing that would have been in my favor (the video) was unfortunately one of the folks who came over who was shooting some wild turkeys trotting across the property and only has the audio of the "incident" whereupon his camera turned around after Nancy's lawn chair hit the driveway, and all that's VISIBLE is me taking the bat to him. Not what I would call helpful, but at least his words are on the chip as clear as day and the sound of him smacking her without "pix." So apparently we're going to elevate it to a "hate crime" and have him charged with a felony and see where it goes from there. Whatta mess. And over an election. Have looked over how stupid things have gotten here since, and I'll be VERY glad to see it all over. :( |

Alas, they don't grow brains in Bruno county. :(I'm TOLD that the "primary relief" will be bargaining over upgrading of the event to a "hate crime" which fortunately in New York is some serious stuff ... and that what I did with "excessive force" fails to rise to the same level. I was sick of all this when it happened, and absolutely steeled me towards "republicans" ... but this is a no-win solution all around, aside from the lawyers. I was also informed that I may end up eating everything regardless because the "evidence" consists only of video of me beating the shit out of the plaintiff, despite the AUDIO which clearly captured the "hate crime" part ... but it's all up to a jury and Rensselaer county isn't exactly known for its sympathy for those of us over here in "commie county" ... in the end, comes down to Joe sixpack, and we're likely to lose. Law says "basis is residence of the plaintiff." :( We shall see. :-\ |

So now she's absent three teeth, and has a serious infection which is on its THIRD course of Amoxicillin, and we haven't even been able to KISS since the event because her mouth and nose are STILL swollen. Just so you know, she's been taking Armour Thyroid now for five years just so you have an idea of her medical condition BEFORE the event. She doesn't heal easily. :(And you WONDER why I hate republicans now? With prejudice? :-\ |

He never made bail over there. Albany county is a bit more expensive ... just wish none of us EVER had to go through any of this in the first place.
