Darializa beats Espaillat (Revolutionary Beckies)
Posted by LuchAAA on Tue Jun 23 23:15:29 2026 I wonder if Espaillat will run as an independiente? Another Mamdani supported candidate, Claire Valdez, won as well. These two women represent the "Revolutionary Beckies", so it's no surprise that they won. If you all remember, handle "displacedangelino" was bothered by my creation of the term. But i was right about that voting bloc emerging.

How about you just answer the question already. How about that? As for me, I am closely following a few shootings that took place this week near East Cleveland, a killing zone I am intimately familiar with as part of my ongoing field work. A couple unrelated shootings occurred off E. 93rd Avenue to the southeast of downtown. One person was gunned down dead and the other was rushed to a hospital in unknown condition. The third incident was over in Euclid which borders East Cleveland. In all cases, the actors are still on the run. There are many dangerous gangs roaming Cleveland Eastside to include the Hayden Avenue Monsters, the One Tre Killas which is a Crip set, and the extremely dangerous Cuyahoga Long Gunners which is Peoples and Folk Nation. I keep my distance from Cuyahoga whenever and wherever possible.

The Village Independent Democrats and the Downtown Independent Democrats, which are people as politically motivated as you can be, both endorsed Goldman. When I saw low turnout for early voting, I actually thought it was good, but of course I was wrong. The VID used to be way leftist. I guess they've aged out and decreased in numbers. :(

Everyone in the four boroughs should be registered as a Democrat. Maybe the Republican Party should start trying to appeal to urban ethnics, many of whom are socially conservative. The irony is that one of the most conservative groups are the Muslims, and the Democratic Hamas Caucus currently appeals to them for obvious reasons.

Originally (over 60 years ago) they were just mainstream Democratic and anti-machine. Koch first ran for Assembly, and lost, against DeSapio's guy, in 1962. They became much more left wing over time, but have clearly become more moderate in recent decades. Though I believe Bill Passannante, his opponent then, was never accused of corruption.

The reason South Brooklyn has some Republican pockets is because of the Asian and Russian-Jewish populations. Asians have been very vocal about issues Democrats support, like migrant hotels in their neighborhoods. And don't forget the wave of Asian hate crimes a few years ago. This really got Asians out to vote against liberal candidates. But these "urban ethnic", groups that dANd refers to, are outnumbered by the Hipster/Revolutionary Becky voters in Bushwick, East Williamsburg, etc........

BINGO! With the Asians its also about the schools. Democrats lost the Asian vote by coming out against the SHSAT and being in favor of affirmative action, which detriments Asians. It's just that for the Revolutionary Beckies, the DSA is their church and come out to vote during the election that normal people aren't even aware is happening.
