So ICE has no way to easily detain criminals. The second option is to do all of the things that people are upset about. Self-inflicted.Yet in red states and purple cities I never hear about ICE using those same tactics. Is that because they don't need to because law enforcement and courts in those jurisdictions are cooperating with them? This is a significant cultural shift over the last couple of decades in the way that laws are enforced and how cooperation, or lack thereof, occurs. It started when Obama was President. |

It's not just Trump. The entire management of DHS says they have one goal (removing criminals) but 90% of their focus is on another goal(removing overstayers). They are fairly successfully deceiving large parts of the public about this. It's simply a scam.Further, ICE goes way beyond what it is mandated to do. They have changed administrative procedures in ways that are totally contrary to what Congress allows. They have frequently also violated their own administrative procedures. |

No. Crimes are specifically classified as such and are considered worse than mere violations of law.It's not that traffic is a special thing where you can get a summons for an infraction that's not a crime, there are other things, like open container violations, littering, etc. It's a meaningful distinction, it's what separates other people from "criminals." |
