January 1 is not the New Year for the Jews and never has been. It's not the "New Year" for the Catholics either, yet they don't feel a need to shun the secular new year. |

Who cares how it began, there's nothing religious about New Years Eve. And as was pointed out, it's not even the "new year" of the Church calendar, the First Sunday of Advent is, which is 4 sundays before Christmas. |

I have Sundays Scripture Text Bulliten insert....'4 Advent.' By your listing, the next bulliten insert should be 'Christmastide.' Practically all Christian denominations use the same lectionary in the same yearly sequence.BTW: Sunday after Easter is often called 'low Sunday' because few attend. I need a few 'High Church' services to wake me up. My mothers memorial service was close to 'High Church' as we would have. There was incense and Blessings...I made darn sure there were bells too. One day I will get to visit 'The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine' in NYC. Peter |

I didn't get 'Boxing Day' off but I do have one week from Christmas through New Years. Thanksgiving was a Thursday...we got paid for Friday off...but I had to show up for work Saturday as 'core crew.' Some did not show up on Saturday and will discover lackings in their yearly revue just coming up. |

I first saw them on the And Justice tour, and had a hard time getting tickets for the Black tour, but got a scalpped pair for Jones Beach (paid like $125 each, and that was HIGH for the early 90's!), I just had to see them again.... But as you said, it was the beginning of the end. I tolerated them through the S&M crap, and cut them some slack with Load, but by ReLoad, I was wearing thin....and then the icing, that St Anger crap.....Ugh.I think I will go in my car and take a drive with my Ride the Lightning or Master CD to try to get over this brief depression you just brought me into! :) |

Well, if you want a bit of cheering up, I can tell you that when I saw them open for Ozzy on the Master Of Puppets/Ultimate Sin tour, they were a completely different bandat the top of their game, and very tight musically; that is, apart from Lars, who dropped his drumsticks briefly during "Seek And Destroy". (Yup, I got to see them with Cliff Burton.) Many folk I knew (and know) were very impressed with the reception an opening band for Ozzy got . . . when the Brendan Byrne's packed from the beginning of the show till the end, you know that something special was going on. |

Black people didn't buy Christmas cards of white faces, black girls didn't associate with WHITE Barbie and black boys didn't associate with WHITE GI joe.Kwanzaa originated with Dr. Maulana Karen-ga in 1966. He was professor and chair of Black Studies USC Long Beach. It is important to stress that Kwanzaa is a cultural heritage holiday and not a religious one and practiced by many 'Africans' of many faiths. In My crew I work with many Carribean 'blacks' who have NO interest in Kwanzaaa. They share my faith as part of the Anglican Communion and are there in my present times of need. This is 'True Crew Loyalty' as what you do for crew is returned as best as crew can do for you. Yes Train Dude there is crew loyalty. Dom chucked everything out of break-room and I ordered a new toaster...bagel sized! There is a 'Moose mud pie' on its way for my crew too! RRCI Peter |
