Rittenhouse sits upright and shoots the man at nearly point-blank range. Then, Rittenhouse gets up and fires several more shots even though no one is close to him at this point at all.He then tried to surrender to the police, who completely ignore him, and the shouts of witnesses who warn that Rittenhouse had just shot people. The cops later said they didn't arrest Rittenhouse at the scene because there was "too much chaos". That's bullshit. I've participated in protest marches that had hundreds of thousands of participants, making all kinds of noise, and still seen cops single out the EXACT person they wanted to arrest amid the pandemonium. "Self-defense"? No sale. |

After the incident:Cabey was involuntarily retired from his life of crime, paralyzed from the waist down and somewhat brain damaged. Allen was sent to prison for the violent robbery of a 58 year old woman. Ramseur was convicted of a violent rape/allault and sentenced to 8 1/3 to 25 years. Canty only had a shop lifting charge after Goetz shot him. He was the under-achiever of the team. I'm sure that alms faith in these young men is otherwise justified. |

In the videos that I've seen, it's too dark to see what immediately preceded the shooting, but I've read that the guy grabbed the wrong end of the rifle. The fact that Rittenhouse was literally running away from the guy and was subsequently caught makes it appear like that was self-defense to me. He was obviously not the aggressor. |
